Two good news for the SPT Logistic Iberia team

SPT continues to invest in the training of its human resources, increasing the competence and the demand for the services provided to the Client.

These investments continue to be made, and we will shortly give new news about “surgical” actions in progress.

SPT Portugal, two years ago, launches a challenge to Artur Patrício – Terminal Manager of SPT Portugal, to perform a Master Business Administration of Companies and Management of Projects. The challenge was accepted and satisfactorily and completed in May 2022.

At SPT Spain, at the end of 2021 I launches a challenge to Victor Fontan – Terminal Manager SPT Logistic Iberia to carry out an external training in Leadership to provide tools and guidelines to enhance the Vision and Values of the SPT Ibérica Organization. The challenge was accepted and carried out with a excellent result in May 2022, opening the door for a new complementary course in Business Communication.

SPT PORTUGAL ADHERES TO THE SEVESO REGULATION

SPT LOGISTIC PORTUGAL, highly aware of its social and environmental responsibility, and within the scope of its inherent obligations, has decided to go one step further and, in order to provide its customers with the very best service, is now engaged in the regularization/ delivery phase of the Seveso dossier to the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).

This dossier sets down the necessary standards for the prevention of serious accidents in industries that work with dangerous substances.

We have been working on the accident prevention policy internally at SPT for a long time. Our customers can rest assured that their products are well received because they are not only compliant with current law, but also with the implementation of good practices. And now we are adding a Serious Accident Prevention Policy.

Proactivity is crucial at SPT, so we welcome and promote it.

With this step SPT assumes greater responsibility for the logistics chain. But, above all, it guarantees its customers that its products, the vast majority of them classified as “dangerous”, are handled accordingly.

Notwithstanding this fact, SPT customers as a whole must also ensure that they also comply with all the applicable legal, social and environmental requirements, so as not to undermine SPT’s safety with regards to stored products,  neighboring companies, or the population affected. This is, indeed, a responsibility of all and for all.

Informative note on the origin of the SEVESO denomination.

In 1976 a major hazardous materials accident occurred in the Italian city of Seveso, giving rise to a European directive whose main objective was to establish procedures and practices for the prevention of serious accidents, and the limitation of their impact on human health and the environment, at facilities that work with dangerous chemical agents.

NEW IBC PACKAGING MACHINE

At SPT Spain the new IBC (Intermediate Bulk Container) packaging machine is now operational, which will allow us to repack tanks to containers and drums in a fully automated way.

This machine allows a large quantity of liquid to be repacked, and is designed to fill drums and IBCs normally used in the Food and Chemicals industries.

We have two totally independent repackaging systems that allow us to repackage both food and conventional products.

We are also studying the implementation of the same machine at the SPT Portugal facilities.

WORK COMPLETED ON SPT WAREHOUSE IN CALLÚS

We are very pleased to announce that, after several months of work, the new SPT warehouse is now operational. This expansion gives us an additional 3,000 m2 of storage space.

We currently have a capacity for 9,600 pallets in total: 5,100 in Spain and 4,500 in Portugal. We have expanded our existing Chemical Product Storage capabilities in order to offer better coverage and service.

Here are some photos of the results:

Corporate cloth masks for our employes

Check out our corporate masks for our employees. At SPT we have chosen to use cloth masks to reduce the consumption of non-recyclable materials, thereby protecting the planet, as a commitment to the environment and sustainable living is essential to our company.

Loading transport unit with airbags

Today we want to share with you a video showing how workers in our warehouse carry out the loading of a transport unit.

As you can see, we install air bags in the empty space between the pallets to keep the merchandise from shifting during transport.

Through this solution, we reduce the likelihood of product damage during transfers.

It is common to use this solution on long-distance trips or when transporting high-value products.

This process boosts the quality of the service we provide.

COVID-19 CONTINGENCY MEASURES

We would like to inform you that at SPT Logistic we are taking all the relevant contingency measures to halt the expansion of COVID-19.

We will have two teams, one working from home, and the other working as usual on company premises, in order to minimize the risk of contagion among staff and to guarantee minimum service levels. However, due to these measures, both product inputs and outputs may be affected.

We will inform you and adapt to new situations in response to the how the situation unfolds with reference to the virus.
