SPT LOGISTIC PORTUGAL, highly aware of its social and environmental responsibility, and within the scope of its inherent obligations, has decided to go one step further and, in order to provide its customers with the very best service, is now engaged in the regularization/ delivery phase of the Seveso dossier to the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).
This dossier sets down the necessary standards for the prevention of serious accidents in industries that work with dangerous substances.
We have been working on the accident prevention policy internally at SPT for a long time. Our customers can rest assured that their products are well received because they are not only compliant with current law, but also with the implementation of good practices. And now we are adding a Serious Accident Prevention Policy.
Proactivity is crucial at SPT, so we welcome and promote it.
With this step SPT assumes greater responsibility for the logistics chain. But, above all, it guarantees its customers that its products, the vast majority of them classified as “dangerous”, are handled accordingly.
Notwithstanding this fact, SPT customers as a whole must also ensure that they also comply with all the applicable legal, social and environmental requirements, so as not to undermine SPT’s safety with regards to stored products, neighboring companies, or the population affected. This is, indeed, a responsibility of all and for all.
Informative note on the origin of the SEVESO denomination.
In 1976 a major hazardous materials accident occurred in the Italian city of Seveso, giving rise to a European directive whose main objective was to establish procedures and practices for the prevention of serious accidents, and the limitation of their impact on human health and the environment, at facilities that work with dangerous chemical agents.
